Julie Ryan was a reading specialist in the US and at the American School of Paris before becoming an administrator, first as an elementary school principal in two San Francisco area school districts, including one on the Stanford University campus, and eventually as Lower School Principal at The American School in London, where she served for nineteen years. While in California, she was chosen as a trainer for the California School Leadership Academy (CSLA) and has been a trainer for the Principals Training Center from 1998-present. She was selected as a National Distinguished Principal (US State Department and the National Association of Elementary School Principals) in 1999. Julie has consulted at many international schools and has been a frequent speaker at many educational conferences including ECIS and MAIS.  Previously a member of the MSA International Schools Advisory Council, she then served a six-year term as a Commissioner of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. In 2014, Julie joined Search Associates as a Senior Associate and continues to be passionate about the importance of hiring and supporting outstanding teachers and administrators for international schools. Julie also cares deeply about creating inclusive and diverse school communities.
