Strategic Policy: Missing link for governing!

A streamlined model for international school boards

Facilitated by: Chip Barder and Bambi Betts

If there is one big idea that has become embedded in international school governance it’s this: the board’s role is first and foremost STRATEGIC rather than operational - to set broad direction for the school. And yet, take a look at your ‘board policy manual’. If yours is similar to those of the vast majority of boards, it is likely filled with regulations,  procedures or practices actually meant for the school leadership. Strategic, direction-setting policies are all too often MIA (Missing in Action). How can a board be strategic when its policies are not?  Join the conversation as we make the case for governing with STRATEGIC POLICY, and help you to understand how to develop strategic policies for your school using real world examples.
