What we do…

 

Are you an international school board member or school owner somewhere in the world? If so, you are fully aware that this important job demands a specific set of skills based on the knowledge, understanding and standards of international school governance best practice. The GTC serves the unique professional development needs of practicing and aspiring international school governance members worldwide. We strive to provide world class, research-driven, practical training designed to be put into practice in the international school setting. The expectation is that as a result of this training, you will become a better governance member and the school will be more effectively governed.

The GTC provides an array of virtual and in-person professional learning services.

GTC program content is based on the following assumptions

International school board membership is a service profession with a set of standards composed of specific skills, knowledge and understandings. The most effective board members bring a learning mindset to the work. International school boards are ultimately responsible for:

  • Honoring, protecting and advancing the school mission

  • Setting broad school policy

  • Overseeing the fiduciary work of the school

  • Planning for the school’s strategic and sustainable future

  • Hiring, supporting and evaluating the head of school

  • Ensuring all systems are in place to maximize student learning
