What will we learn?

 

Knowledge and skill addressing the key questions which will help you be an effective board member right from the start:

  • What is international school governance actually and what is its purpose?

  • What is, and is not, the work of governance?

  • What are the essential roles, responsibilities and duties of governance members?

  • How do you as a governance members ensure you are adding value?

  • What are the essential facets of the Governance-Head relationship? 

  • What tools does governance have at its disposal to do its work? 

  • What are some common pitfalls and biggest surprises you might experience as a new governance member?

Who is it for?

  • Newly elected or appointed board members, owners new to the interntional school world

  • Anyone interested in potentially becoming a governance member of an interntional school

  • For maximum effect, we recommend at least one continuing continuing member and the Head of school attend along with new members

How does it work?

The session features:

  • 2-hour synchronous session conducted on Zoom. You will need an internet connected device.

  • Interactive presentation during which you will engage with some exercises and reflections

  • Breakout rooms with other participants

  • An optional job-alike hour—stay on with us to chat with others in the role

  • PDF packet of materials which you will use for the interactive parts of the session.

What is the cost?

Per participant from a member school: USD$200
Per participant from a non-member school: USD$225
